How to assemble your Earthbound memorial
Carefully unwrap each element of the memorial. You will find:
- The memorial plinth
- The memorial tree, planted in soil and cremains within a felt growing pot
- A scatter tube of cremains
- A wax seal
- The memorial plinth
(Do take a moment to check beneath the loose protective packaging.)
1. Prepare the base of your planter
- Add a layer of pebbles or small gardening stones to the base of the planter
- Build this layer gradually to your desired height
- Spread evenly to create a flat, level surface
- Press lightly so the surface feels stable and does not shift
2. Position the memorial plinth
Place the memorial plinth on top of the pebble layer.
Ensure it is sitting flat and fully supported.
3. Place the Tree
Remove the embroidered cotton bag from around the base of the tree.
Lift the tree carefully, supporting the pot from beneath, and place it – still within its felt pot – on top of the memorial plinth.
Do not lift the tree by the trunk.
4. Check Positioning
Ensure the tree is:
- sitting level
- stable and secure
- not rocking or leaning
If needed, lift gently and adjust the pebble layer beneath the plinth.
5. Water & Position
Water the tree lightly after placement.
Position your memorial in a suitable environment for your tree.
If placing indoors, you may wish to use a drip tray beneath the planter.

7. Place the Wax Seal
The wax seal provides access to the memorial page and can be placed wherever feels most accessible to you and your family.
If placing on a surface, such as on your planter, peel back the adhesive and press gently into position. A spare adhesive backing is included should you wish to reposition it.
