Pilgrim House make furniture to be lived in, and the dog beds and scatter cushions I make for them are built in the same spirit. These are pieces designed for daily use, in homes where things are chosen carefully and expected to last.

The dog beds began as a conversation. Pilgrim House brought a clear vision for the design; together we worked out how to realise it and refined the details along the way.

Each bed is made to order. Standard sizes are available, but the pattern can also be adapted to specific dimensions using a formula I developed to scale proportions without distortion — useful when a customer has an unusually large dog, an awkward alcove, or simply a preference. The base is a channelled feather pad, and the topper is layers of cotton flock, hand tufted in a cotton lining. Covers fasten with press studs so they can be removed and washed, and each stud is backed by a small leather tab, stamped by hand from remnant leather, to reinforce the fixing and prevent wear to the fabric over time. Invisible zips give a clean finish to the covers and leave as little as possible for the dogs to find interesting. It is the kind of detail that does its job quietly.

The fabrics – traditional ticking and linen – are supplied by Pilgrim House. Orders are fulfilled within a three-week turnaround from the date the order is placed. The scatter cushions are feather-filled and made to the same standard.
