This is powered by a battery, either located on the down tube or a carrier at the back of&nbsp;the bike. The battery power will vary, generally between 400w \u2013 650w.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-medium\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ebike-europe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/F28B2BA6-D267-4C3B-95BE-6826AA9500AF_1_105_c-225x300.jpeg\" alt=\"Mur rad tour\" class=\"wp-image-3612\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">I ride a trekking e-bike.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">How do they work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:14px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The motor boosts the power that you put through by turning the pedals. You control the various power levels from a computer on your handlebars. I have a Bosch motor on my e-bike, and my specific model has 4 levels. Eco is the lowest and gives me 55% more power, so my 100% turns 155%. If I need help on a steep section, the top level, Turbo, gives me 340% more power. A common assumption is that you do not have to pedal, but this is not the case. You choose how much \u201cassistance\u201d you need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ebikes use different types of batteries depending on the manufacturer and type of e-bike. Therefore the distance you will get from one charge will vary a lot. It will depend on several variables:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:14px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your weight<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The terrain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Level of power you use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How much uphill you will be doing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The wattage of the battery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-medium\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ebike-europe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/A3CDABD9-3E31-485C-911A-093F02FAAEB6_1_105_c-1-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"Weinland\" class=\"wp-image-3631\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">This is where an e-bike can take you!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Types of bikes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main types of e-bikes are City, Trekking, Hardtail and Full suspension. If you are considering buying an e-bike, do your homework to get the most suitable bike for your needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>City<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This bike is ideal for riding on asphalt&nbsp;roads and bike paths with thinner tyres and not such a wide range of gears. The position on the bike is designed for comfort and tends to be fairly upright. It may have a rack to carry panniers or a basket and will have mudguards to protect you in the rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ebike-europe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/05E4749E-9022-4ECA-8D12-4AAF4CD7D960_1_105_c.jpeg\" alt=\"City\" class=\"wp-image-3674\" style=\"width:768px;height:576px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">City e-bike<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Trekking bike<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A&nbsp; more robust version of the city bike with all its features is just stronger to deal with gravel paths and more gearing to deal with steeper terrain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ebike-europe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/309C6B4B-255D-4890-B2B3-D0896BCB4077_1_105_c.jpeg\" alt=\"Trekker\" class=\"wp-image-3673\" style=\"width:768px;height:576px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Trekking e-bike<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Hardtail<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This mountain bike has suspension on the front to soak up the shocks from riding on rougher terrain; the&nbsp;bike frame is solid. The tyres are wider and have a deeper knobbly tread, so the grip is good on various rough surfaces. The brakes will be hydraulic, which&nbsp;has greater stopping&nbsp;power. The position on the bike is more &#8220;sporty&#8221;, so you are ready to deal with whatever the terrain throws at you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:27px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ebike-europe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/46168589-98CA-4BF8-AF46-4581A37AC4A9_1_105_c.jpeg\" alt=\"Hardtail\" class=\"wp-image-3672\" style=\"width:768px;height:576px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Hardtail e-bike<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:27px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Full Suspension (known as Fullys)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is an even more beefed-up hardtail with suspension on the back and the front. The fully is designed for riding tougher,&nbsp;steeper terrain. Interestingly many more people are now riding fullys as they offer a more comfortable ride due to the suspension.
